Going Ape 2

Production Details

In this series of 12 half-hours we will follow the perilous lives of orphaned apes in West Africa rescued by frontline workers from the UK, US and Cameroon. The bushmeat trade creates hundreds of orphans every year and they need the help of dedicated people like Rachel Hogan, Felix Lankester, Sheri Speede and Babs Tafon.

We’ll follow the orphans’ fight to stay alive. Each new arrival reveals their own story as they overcome physical and psychological scars. We’ll witness the tireless work of the keepers as they battle to get these orphans back to good health and ultimately integrated into new family groups.

There will be heart-warming tales of survival against the odds and drama as workers encounter every obstacle imaginable in the rescue and rehabilitation of apes. This series provides a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with apes and their lives.
