This series is edgy and emotional. It’s about grabbing orphaned chimpanzees and gorillas from brutal loggers and from bushmeat traders. It’s about fighting for apes on the front line in Africa – where the battle needs to be fought… It’s about uniting distressed babies with surrogate mums. It’s about medical emergencies and operations, family crises and translocations….and nursing baby gorillas through the night.

But above all, it’s about the chaos of creating new family groups. Set against the exotic backdrop of the Cameroon rainforest, Going Ape is a parallel soap opera depicting the highs and lows of fifty chimpanzees living in five groups, twenty six gorillas in two groups, and six humans living in three groups…..oh and four mandrills.
