Snowflake

Production Details

Snowflake was the only known albino gorilla in the world. He was captured in Equatorial Guinea in 1966 and spent the remaining 37 years of his life at Barcelona Zoo. Through Snowflake’s story we explore how our understanding of and relationship with gorillas has changed since these gentle apes first came to the attention of the western world in the mid-19th Century.

This film charts the history of gorillas in captivity, and uncovers the threats now faced by gorillas in the wild and the efforts of conservationists to save them from extinction.
