Maneaters

Production Details

Crocodiles – The crocodile has had 200 million years to hone its skills along the water’s edge, making it an awesome predator. In Australia’s Northern Territory,  croc numbers are now higher than ever. Despite their man-eating reputation, saltwater crocodiles are the main attraction for thousands of tourists.

But as Brad Molloy discovered on a camping trip, just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they’re not there. Scientist Dr Grahame Webb knows crocodiles better than anyone. He believes it’s not just Salties you should look out for. They have a smaller relative with a vicious bite, as British tourist Suzie MacKenzie found out to her cost. And if you think you’re safe in the city, think again. In Miami, Florida, alligators are causing trouble. People and alligators are competing for space, keeping trappers busy with call-outs from all over town. An alligator may not have the bulk of a Salty but it can certainly leave its mark – just ask James Heineke.

Tigers – We admire their beauty, but in a split second, admiration can turn to terror. Clashes between tigers and humans are increasing every year. In the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal, seven-year-old Kayshanio Gibbon came eye to eye with a tiger. Safari specialist Nick van Gruisen also had a close encounter with a female tiger. He saved himself by keeping his nerve and standing his ground. Dan Badabur and Khadka Badabur from Nepal avoided death only by good luck.
