Jane Goodall’s Return to Gombe
Jane Goodall takes a break from her gruelling conservation schedule to spend a week with the chimpanzees she’s known for 43 years at the Gombe Stream Research Station in Tanzania. For Dr Goodall this is a rare opportunity to recharge her batteries, reflect on her conservation work and catch up on the lives of the chimpanzees her research made famous.
But this year, the chimps are in turmoil. Frodo the top-ranking alpha chimp and king of Gombe is ill. Reports reaching Jane suggest that he has been overthrown, and a power struggle has begun for the leadership.
