City economist Conor Woodman trades his way around the world.

Conor has worked in the world of finance for the last ten years. Now he’s spotted an exciting investment opportunity. If his hunch is right he can sell his flat, invest the profits and embark on a round the world daring adventure of high-stakes economics, returning six months later with an extra £75,000 in his pocket.

Starting in London, he sells his Islington flat and backs himself to the tune of £25K. London’s economic outlook for 2008 looks dim. Property has stagnated, the credit crunch is taking its toll and the stock market is poised for a crash. Conor is convinced that he can make more money if he cashes in now and goes on the road.

Conor believes that the principles of profit are universal wherever you go, whatever language you speak.  Whether trading coffee or camels, light bulbs or seafood he’ll work out how to make money in every market he encounters along his route.

He trades on his wits and instincts, going head to head with the best operators in the world’s most hotly-contested markets. Will years of experience in corporate finance mean anything when haggling with Sudanese camel traders?

Each episode is a standalone journey – London to Africa, India to China, China to SE Asia, South America to London. At the beginning of each leg of his global route, Conor identifies three or four trades that he hopes will bring him big profits.  Each time he finds the angle that will ensure he has the competitive edge.  The stakes get higher and higher until he ends each leg with one final risk-it-all trade. The last film sees him risk everything to hit his target and make it back to London just six months later and £75K richer.
